Fusing fashion with art, Iranian Gita Meh launches her first wearable collection of art for women. Feeling brave?
Bringing fashion to the gallery space, Iranian artist, Gita Meh, is back at thejamjar with her first collection of wearable art for women. Transforming her canvas, Gita Meh has chosen clothing and design as her latest medium of expression. ‘Walking Galleries’ of 400 limited edition pieces, all numbered and signed, each inspired by poetry and designed to make art a part of what we wear.
‘I paint each of the unique edition dresses as if I am painting on primed canvases stretched according to the anatomy of the female form,’ says Meh. ‘If I can’t bring the audience to the art, I will take the art to the audience,’ says Meh of her move into fashion. ‘I thought of Walking Galleries as a line of art, clothing us women instead of fabric.’
So there you have it: poetry on the move, clothing that acts as canvas, western style meets Middle Eastern art. We love it. Available at S*uce Village Mall, 04 344 7270, S*uce Dubai Mall, 04 339 9696 and thejamjar, 04 341 7303.
