We take a look at the newest stores and trends to hit Dubai. Here's where you need to be going this summer
Finally settling down in life normally comes with the tedious task of doing up your new home or finally undergoing the realisation that you will have to splurge a little to turn your house into a home. The dilemma, of course, is that you perhaps don’t want to spend too much in case you end up leaving Dubai, but you don’t want your house to be an identikit copy of everyone else you know. We’ve also noticed that it’s hard to be individual as decent furniture here tends to be ultra modern, or purposefully vintage (think Marina Furniture or Sharjah Blue Souk).
That’s why we’re intrigued by Decoworld, conveniently located at the Marina Promenade opposite Jumeirah Beach Residence (if you live in the Marina). The shop stocks flooring, curtains, blinds, to lighting and furniture, so you’ve literally got everything from the floor to the ceiling covered. But more importantly you can have everything custom made, meaning you get to create something different. Hopefully good-different rather than weird-different. At least it will have been your choice… Decoworld, Dubai Marina 04 422 7657.

Aiisha Ramadan at Soiree: This trendsetting Jumeirah boutique seems to have bagged all the hotshot designers. Aissha Ramadan is showcasing her prêt á porter collection. The striking colours and flowing designs have really caught our eye in recent weeks. Check out the rest of her collection at Soiree. Available at Soiree Boutique, Al Wasl Road, 04 349 4995.
Pucci: Renaissance mixes with contemporary for the new spring collection at Emilio Pucci. The intention, apparently, is to ‘express the ease of freedom combined with a rebellious lifestyle.’ We certainly think the new pieces give of a confident, self-assured look. Available at Emilio Pucci boutique, Dubai Mall (04 3398525).
Police: Police has joined hands with Terminator Salvation to launch its limited edition set box. A watch with three chronographs – for date, day and seconds – the silver highlights the details on the black dial, while the black rubber strap is so sturdy you could fight aliens with it. Each watch is paired with a rather sleek black leather Zen wallet. Exclusively available at all Paris Gallery Outlets.
CK IN 2U: Keeping with the convention of blue for men and pink for women, CK introduces a perfume line that reflects a ‘sexy, young and no strings attached’ vibe. Sounds like someone we know, 10 years ago. Anyway, we’ve had a sniff of the test paper and we can confirm that it is perfect for your cool summer scent. Available in all good perfume stores.
