In Dubai, you can find the store at the K6 Building in Al Muraqabat, Deira.
It opens from 10am to midnight Saturday to Wednesday, or from 10am to 1am on Thursdays.
On Friday, Viva opens from 8.30am to 1am, so you’ll be able to grab your bargains good and early.
Top offers range from Dhs1.70 for a kilo of rice to Dhs4.95 for a three-piece towel set.
You can also get a tin of sweetcorn for Dhs1.95 and a packet of penne for the same price.
Hair products are also pretty cheap at Viva, coming in at Dhs3.95 for shower gel or Dhs6.95 for conditioner.
Meanwhile a 2kg bag of detergent powder goes for just Dhs5.95. That’s a bargain.
When Viva announced its expansion earlier this year, the company's boss Georg Fisher said: "Customers will experience a different way of shopping where the highest quality at cheapest prices is found in a compact format all in one place."
Viva is based on chains such as Lidl and Aldi, and has other stores in Sharjah and Ajman – with plans for 11 more by the end of this year.
Landmark Group, the company behind the chain, said it is a "very good time" to launch the business because people are "conscious of what they are spending". You can say that again.
If you’re looking for another way to save, Spinneys has just launched a new deal called 10x10, offering ten different types of fruit and vegetables for just Dhs10 per pack.
That means you can get a 3kg bag of Valencia oranges, a bunch of white seedless grapes or a 250g packet of strawberries for less than the cost of a coffee.
Other items in the offer include green kiwis, a 600g bag of mixed peppers, 1kg of sweet potatoes or 700g of local beef tomatoes.
You can also pick up a 500g family pack of white mushrooms, 350g of cherry tomatoes or a 1kg bag of pink apples. 10am to midnight Sat-Wed, 10am-1am Thu, 8.30am-1am Fri. Al Muraqabbat 1, Deira, myviva.com (04 26 9061).
