The Formula One Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is arguably the biggest sporting event in the UAE, and tickets for the race have just gone on sale. Taking place on Friday November 24 to Sunday 26, the race is to be the final of the Formula One season, promising an exciting end to what could be a tense championship battle.
Yas Marina Circuit has played host to the race since the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was added to the Formula One calendar by the FIA in 2009, and will be the venue for 2017s event once again.
Away from the track, four days of entertainment are being planned for ticketholders, including Super Thursday’s pit lane walk and daily post-race concerts by world-class musicians. Music and entertainment festival Yasalam will also return for the ninth year.
Every year the event puts on a spectacular series of concerts once racing has been concluded each day. Recent years have seen headliners like Rhianna, The Chemical Brothers, Florence and the Machine, Blur, The Who, Jay-Z, Kylie Minogue and Eminem all taking to the stage, so expect to see a stellar musical line-up announced soon.
This year will see the return of the “GP Parks Pass” and the addition of the new “Kids Go Free” package – with each three-day adult grandstand ticket purchased, one child under 12 will get free Friday entry and free access to Yas Waterworld and Ferrari World Abu Dhabi.
The “GP Parks Pass” is a three-day package that allows unlimited weekend access to Yas Island Parks, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Yas Waterworld. The package starts from Dhs1,120 for Abu Dhabi Hill and will only be available until Wednesday May 31. Other ticket categories have been maintained at 2016 prices.
A genuine contest is expected this race season between two of the decade’s most dominant drivers - three-time world champion Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. On Sunday’s season opener in Melbourne, Vettel took his first chequered flag since Singapore 2015 and the first win for Ferrari in Australia in ten years. Lewis Hamilton finished second.
Tickets are now available online and through the Yas Marina Circuit Call Centre. They are also available at all Etihad Shops and Virgin Megastores, Yas Central Express stand at Yas Mall, and through the YasHUB smartphone app. Nov 24-26.
