Time Out Dubai staff
Stay... Budget Hubert’s Holiday Home: Hubert’s is a self-catering chalet suitable for one or two people in Beau Vallon on Mahé, only ten minutes from shops, the beach, bars and restaurants. Best of all, it’s only around Dhs200 a night. www.seychelles.travel
Expensive Banyan Tree Seychelles: Splash out on this resort in Mahé, located in Intendance Bay. It’s made up of 60 colonial style villas perched on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Complete the experience by hiring a catamaran for the day. www.banyantree.com
Eat... Budget The Boat House Cafe: Based in Beau Vallon, it offers a mix of Creole and Western food, with a big dollop of local atmosphere. Not fancy, but hugely popular with visitors and locals. Beau Vallon, Mahé.
Expensive Cyann: For the best in haute cuisine, check out Cyann at the Constance Ephelia Resort. It combines the best of French cooking with an Asian twist and also is home to a sushi bar, varied grape cellar and a chef’s table. Port Launay, Mahé.
Must see... There are 65 beaches on Mahé alone, but if you can tear yourself away, visit the smaller island of La Digue where the main form of transport is still an ox-cart, for a seriously slow pace of life.
Must do... There are many different walks for differing fitness levels that wind through lush landscape and offer spectacular views. Pick up a brochure at the Botantical Garden in Victoria, Mahé’s capital.
