Hit the Dibba high seas in style on board a luxuriously restored dhow
Time Out Dubai staff
Musandam’s stunning coastal retreat Six Senses Zighy Bay has launched a unique new experience for guests. Now, you can charter a luxuriously restored traditional Omani dhow for three days and two nights, to take you up and down the country’s mountainous coast.
Six Senses will tailor-make a bespoke itinerary for you, so you can explore the beautiful coastline with barely another boat in sight. Hop on a speed boat that will whisk you off to secret beach bays, kayak out to rocky reefs to see the Gulf’s colourful marine life and snorkel or dive among turtles and, if you’re lucky, dolphins and sharks.
If you’d rather spend your time relaxing on board, take a cooking class from the dedicated chef or get a soothing massage from the on-board therapist. Or, simply sit back on the deck and watch the spectacular scenery pass you by, from remote fishing villages to rugged mountains and cliffs.
The dhow is big enough for six, with three cabins (one king and two twins), a dining area, an air-conditioned lounge, two sun decks and an on-board cinema.
It has all been designed in the same, pared-back, traditional style that Six Senses Zighy Bay is famous for, and guests can expect the same levels of comfort and luxury, too.
The trip doesn’t come cheap, and will set you back a cool US$22,000 (Dhs80,820) covering all meals and excursions, plus a full set of dedicated on-board staff (including a butler, chef and spa therapist).
“We are committed to offering unforgettable memories,” says the hotel’s general manager Aaron McGrath. “And we look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy this breathtaking experience.” US$22,000 (Dhs80,820). For more information, visit www.sixsenses.com/ZighyBay.
