See kites taking to the skies at this festival in Dubai

Every year, we wait for the weather to cool down a bit so we can watch colourful kites 2019 pop up across the Dubai skyline – and it’s finally time for that once again.

Back for its second year, The International Kite Fest is taking place on Friday January 18 at Al Mamzar Park, and it's the biggest kiting event in the city.

You’ll find the coolest of kites taking the skies at the festival with traditional kite-flying activities, and can fly your very own too, also taking part in competitions with lots of prizes up for grabs.

Little ones will stay entertained with kite-making workshops where they can learn all about the art of kite flying, free face painting, balloon bending and more. Plus, there will be a happiness corner with a play area for the kids with prizes to be won.

Families can grab a bite from a choice of food stalls or set up their own picnic on the Al Mamzar Park's lawn.

There’s even a henna station for mums and a DJ playing the latest tunes to keep the atmosphere buzzing.

If you buy a ticket before Thursday January 10, you get three free kites for the event – a good way to skip the kite shopping and be ready for all the excitement.

We’re all set for some serious kiting.
Dhs25 (including park entry), free (kids under five). Jan 18 10am-7pm. Beach Area 1, Al Mamzar Park (050 658 1940).
