The Merchants of Bollywood

Dazzling Bollywood stage show makes a stop at the Palladium

Expect entertainment at its most extravagant from The Merchants of Bollywood, an Australian-produced musical that has just finished a sell-out international tour and is now being staged at Dubai’s Palladium. Based on the true story of Ayesha Merchant, it tells the tale of a girl who abandons her home (and her grandfather’s wishes) for Mumbai, where she hopes to make it big in Bollywood. We’ve heard talk of elaborate dance routines, 1,600 costume changes and more than 3,000 pieces of jewellery, so it’s sure to dazzle. Plus the music is by the Oscar-winning composer of the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack, AR Rahman, so the tunes should be good.
January 21-23. Matinee shows at 3pm, tickets from Dhs150. Evening shows at 7.30pm, tickets are Dhs150 standard, Dhs350 regular, Dhs350VIP and Dhs450VVIP. See www.timeouttickets.com or call 800 4669 for tickets
