A giant leap, or

One Small Step

It seems live theatre is getting better and better in Dubai at the moment. Cult musical Blood Brothers is playing at the First Group Theatre (but only until February 6, so catch it quick) and now Ductac brings us One Small Step, which has garnered rave reviews since debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2008. Basically, it tells the story of the space race, from the first dog in orbit to the moon landing. But perhaps most interesting is the way it’s told. Actors Robin Hemmings and Oliver Millingham play 41 characters between them and make some very inventive use of everyday props (sugar pots become space pods and beach balls double for atomic bombs). We admit it, we’re intrigued.

February 11-14, Ductac at Mall of the Emirates, level 2. Tickets are Dhs100: call 800 4669 or see www.timeouttickets.com.
