Festive

Christmas Eve at St Francis of Assisi Church
The evening’s proceedings will begin with carol singing, followed by family mass, mass in English, more carol singing, examination of conscience with general absolution and Christmas high mass at 11pm, followed by Malayalam mass at 1am. Mass will be held on Christmas Day in a number of languages – see the website for the full schedule. People of all religions are welcome.

Christmas Eve club night at Emirates Golf Club
Gorge on a Christmas buffet and take part in a festive quiz.

Pick up gifts and treats at a Christmas market
Marina Mall’s Christmas market will continue throughout the festive period, selling gifts and edible treats.

Sample festive afternoon tea while the kids decorate gingerbread houses
Try the Ritz-Carlton Dubai’s seasonal afternoon tea, which features finger sandwiches, mini cakes, pastries and more than 22 different varieties of tea – with a Christmas twist. Every Saturday, the hotel is also running gingerbread house-decorating classes for kids.

See a festive German movie

Enjoy classic 1944 German comedy Die Feurenzangenbowle (aka ‘The Punch Bowl’), accompanied by a glass of the Christmas beverage that inspired the movie’s name.

Try the Christmas quiz at Carter’s
Dubaians are encouraged to round up a team, or simply pop down solo to take part in the weekly general knowledge quiz – you can be sure it will have a festive vibe over the next two weeks.

Watch Jack Frost under the stars
Movies Under the Stars is back, and will be screening festive flick Jack Frost on Sunday December 23 to get you in a festive mood. Popcorn and hotdogs are readily available.

Where to meet Santa!

Oasis Centre
Santa resides inside a winter castle at this mall: a ‘meet and greet’ package with the jolly one includes a chat, a photo op and a present for each child, plus a free kids’ meal and ride at Fun City. The centre itself will be festooned with plenty of decorations.

Ski Dubai
Santa will be in residence in the snow park every day, and kids can share their ‘wish list’ and have pictures taken. There will also be different games each day, including snowman-building, holly wreath throwing, a present hunt and a snow angels competition.

Wafi

Meet Father Christmas in his Tudor-style village. Tickets include a cuddly toy, photo with Santa, a free kids’ meal with every paying adult at Biella, and a free cup of tea or coffee for a parent at Square Café. There’s also the chance to win a family trip to Vienna.
