Brunch Club at The Act Dubai
A limited-edition brunch at the world’s highest theatre club opens on Friday July 31. Diners can feast on Peruvian cuisine and enjoy unlimited house drinks and live entertainment from The Act Dubai’s performers and resident DJs. But make your bookings now as the brunch show is only in town for four weeks. For post-brunch party vibes, the evening continues with a new night called ‘Invasion’, which kicks off at 8pm, and guests can party to the latest house tunes from resident and international DJs.

Crab Tavern

Check out Dubai Media City’s new crab shack and sports bar for generous portions of New York-style sandwiches, salads and seafood from the grill, as well as options for meat eaters, too. Dine by Friday July 31 and get half price food.

Gastronomer’s Dinner at JET

Set to launch on Saturday August 1, lovers of fine dining will now be able to experience a multi-venue, three-course culinary journey at Jumeirah Emirates Towers. The Gastronomer’s Dinner allows each restaurant in the property to showcase its expertise and signature dishes. The evening will begin with welcome drinks and an amuse bouche at Alta Badia Bar, followed by starters in Alta Badia Restaurant. Mains will be served in The Rib Room, where diners can indulge in the ‘Butcher’s Block’ – a sharing platter of high-grade steaks, lamb cutlets, short ribs and mini burgers. A dessert platter is served at The Ivy.

Loca at Souk Al Bahar
A second outlet of vibrant Mexican restaurant Loca is opening up in Souk Al Bahar, with a date slated for ‘this month’. The restaurant and bar will be serving up authentic fare, including ceviche, tortillas and tamales. The new venue will also be showing all the major sports games, too.

Mythos Kouzina & Grill

Bringing authentic Greek food to the table, Mythos is all about simple yet tasty and attractive food. Scheduled to open by the end of July, the menu here is a compilation of traditional Aegean recipes and dishes, such as grilled halloumi drizzled with home-made oxymeli (a sweet honey and vinegar dressing) and hearty saganaki made with feta cheese enveloped in a light filo pastry. The décor is reminiscent of a traditional Greek taverna with chalky white stone walls and rustic table settings, but with smart modern touches.

Novikov Restaurant & Bar

Making its Dubai debut on Saturday July 22, Novikov celebrates a variety of Asian cuisines. The restaurant brand has been delighting diners in London and Moscow and hopes to do the same here. Named after its Russian magnate owner, Arkady Novikov, the restaurant has its own main road entrance, and spans two floors, each divided into four distinct areas – bar and lounge, sushi counter, main dining room and mezzanine private dining room with views of the open kitchen. Diners can look forward to a menu of signature dishes such as Novikov Peking duck, king crab leg wasabi gratin and toro tartare with caviar.

Scheduled to open this week, PI.Dubai is a new home-grown gourmet pizza joint in The Dubai Mall. Serving contemporary Italian food and Neapolitan-inspired pizza, PI. uses an artisan crust and seasonal, local ingredients on every pizza.

Spirito Brazilian Lounge and Kitchen

Opening Saturday August 1, Spirito aims to bring the best of Brazilian cuisine and music to the ninth floor of Media One Hotel. The menu will have Brazilian dishes such as pastel de carne, a light pastry filled with spicy braised beef served with smashed avocado and lime and seafood platters with tempura shrimp, grilled tiger prawn and buttered shrimp dished up with a house dip. Dine during August and get 50 percent off your food bill.

A new lounge on the Palm Jumeirah, Sun& serves a taste of the Mediterranean, with a menu of sharing platters. The plates offer fresh grilled fish, scallops, meats and refreshing juices. The restaurant has bright, cheery décor and is great for a relaxed lunch or dinner with views of the sea. There’s a quaint outdoor terrace, which will really come into its own in less humid months. Pop in for lunch before Monday July 20 and get 25 percent off your food bill.

Four Seasons Resort Dubai's Brunch at Suq
There are six multi-ethnic live cooking stations featuring a range of Middle Eastern, Oriental, Asian and Western favourites at this Friday brunch on Jumeirah Beach.
Suq Brunch is open on Friday from 1pm – 4pm. Prices range from Dhs350 to Dhs650. There’s 50% for young adults aged 6-12 years old. For reservations please contact +971 4 270 7802.

The Black Lion
Gastropubs are usually the reserve of Brits, but Dubai’s first American gastropub is hoping to be a new challenger. Located on the ground floor of The H Dubai, The Black Lion is from the restaurant group that gave us Reform Social & Grill, and this new venue will offer all-day dining, and have a menu of classy pub grub such as steaks, surf and turf and more. The diner opens on Saturday July 18, from which time it will be offering 50 percent off food to all customers until July 31.

Pollo Pollo

Pollo Pollo is said to be the city’s first Peruvian ‘Pollo A La Brasa’ – Peruvian Chicken Restaurant. Owner Ali Sidani has brought in an authentic Peruvian team of chefs to introduce real Peruvian flavour to Dubai. The interiors and ambience are inspired by colourful Inca traditions and the streets of Lima. The menu offers Peruvian Chicken, Alfajores, Chicha Morada and Inca Cola. The estimated opening date is September.

Twilight at Rixos The Palm Dubai

This new evening promotion gives guests the opportunity to enjoy an evening by the pool throughout summer. For Dhs150 per person, guests can enjoy access to the temperature-controlled pool, a menu of international dishes and two complimentary sundowners from Wednesday to Saturday.

Zero Gravity House Party

Every Thursday from 8pm-11pm at Zero Gravity, revellers can enjoy unlimited food, beverages and entertainment. Guests get exclusive access to the upper deck of the venue and like a true house party, you can tuck into platters of canapés, beef sliders, chicken tortilla wraps and creative mixed drinks. And you can dance wherever the mood takes you.

DXB Society Pillow Party at VIP Room Dubai

The party season re-opens with this night at VIP Room Dubai on Tuesday July 21. Giving the city’s glamorous party-goers a mid-week frolic, this event will get the crowd out in their PJs and bedroom wear. Music on the night will be provided by resident DJ Chuck Wonderland who will be spinning a selection of deep house, R&B, hip-hop and party classics. Reservations and guestlist only.

Pacha Ibiza Dubai will host a new monthly club night called Essence. Scheduled to start on Sunday August 2 and take place on the first Sunday of every month, international artists will take to the stage. Clubbers can enjoy house music in the main room and hip-hop and R&B in the Red Room.

Bringing a revamped hip-hop and R&B night to N’Dulge, this new mid-week night out will see UK and US artists perform every other week at the club. The promoter is planning to bring big names over for hip-hop fans who are seeking a less mainstream affair. Opening night is scheduled for early August.

Barrel 12
Located on the trunk of the Palm, this new sports bar opened at the end of June serving lunch and breakfast. With seven TV screens for sports and low ambient music, Barrel 12 looks set to be a friendly local for Palm Jumeirah residents. Decorated with low-hanging metal lights, exposed brickwork and cool wall art made from draught barrels, the bar is bright and relaxed. At the time to writing, the gastropub is yet to get its licence in place, but it plans to offer hops, draughts and grape, alongside a menu of seasonal British fare. Lunchtime diners can enjoy 25 percent off food until Monday July 20.

Indie at Gaucho

One is a big-brand steakhouse with restaurants across the UK, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, and the other is a nightlife lounge originally from Beirut. Indie, was created by Add-Mind, the people behind Iris Dubai and White Dubai, and this partnership sees Indie move in above DIFC’s Argentinian restaurant, Gaucho. Gaucho will be renovated and expanded to accommodate the bohemian-style lounge. Guests can head upstairs to enjoy Indie’s eclectic vibe, small dishes and creative drinks before heading downstairs for a larger steak dinner. It also hopes to bring fashion, art and design to the restaurant. Indie is due to launch in the third quarter of the year.

Lock Stock & Barrel

The people behind Q43 and Asia Asia are launching a brand-new sports bar, bringing their penchant for creating relaxed fun bars to TECOM’s burgeoning nightlife scene. Located on the eighth floor of the Grand Millennium Hotel, the bar is expected to open in November offering a Tex-Mex menu, Sunday roasts and live music.

Nola Eatery & Social House

Taking inspiration from the southern states of America, Nola Eatery & Social House offers a menu of light soul food, with dishes such as jambalaya, voodoo burgers and crab cakes. At the bar, the drinks menu features New Orleans-inspired concoctions and premium beverages. The venue is decked out in a colourful vintage style creating a relaxed yet stylish atmosphere, and is due to open for lunch and dinner by the end of this month.

Stereo Arcade
Step through the doors of Stereo Arcade and you’re instantly transported back to the ’80s. This retro venue houses a bar and a nightclub, and has 12 custom-made arcades fully loaded with 600 classic games from Pac-Man to Street Fighter, and tasty hot dogs to snack on. Stereo Arcade is an 8,000 square foot homage to the decade that brought us Beverly Hills Cop and acid wash jeans, and in the bar, revellers can enjoy live music four nights a week. In the club, which will open Tuesday nights and the weekends, top resident DJs will spin a tracklist of ’80s and ’90s pop, dance, R&B and hip-hop. On Sunday nights the stage opens up for live karaoke, where singers get a dose of Dutch courage before taking to the mic. Female guests will be particularly pleased with the ladies-only bar, where the fairer gender can get discounts on drinks without having to elbow their way to the front.

InterContinental Dubai Marina

This new hotel, located in the heart of Dubai Marina, recently opened with a host of exciting food and beverage outlets for residents and guests. Accents Restaurant & Deli features international cuisine and has an open kitchen where diners can pick fresh ingredients and witness them being prepared by the team of expert chefs. YNot Bar & Kitchen is the hotel’s waterfront venue with an impressive selection of vintages. The bar also features a state-of-the-art dispenser with 24 individual grapes served by the glass. Looking a little further ahead, the hotel will be home to British celebrity chef Jason Atherton’s first restaurant in the region, Marina Social. The restaurant and bar will serve up British cuisine and is due to open in September. (04 446 6777).

Taj Dubai

This new Downtown Dubai hotel affords great views of the Burj Khalifa from its suites and offers guests a contemporary Indian style that’s interwoven into the hotels décor, food and hospitality. Taj Dubai houses 296 rooms including an opulent Maharajah’s suite that comes with butler service, private roof terrace, marble-tiled bathroom and an expansive four-poster bed. Guests and visitors can experience a variety of dining options from contemporary Indian cuisine at Bombay Brasserie to a modern Peruvian flavour at Tesoro and a relaxed vibe at Eloquent Elephant gastropub.

BPOD Salon and Spa
Up on the 23rd floor of Aspin Commercial Tower is a trendy ladies’ salon and spa. With cool interiors of concrete and block colours, BPOD offers its clients a full range of body and beauty treatments, from mani-pedis to waxing, tanning, creative cuts, colours and treatments for all hair types. And it will all be done by hair stylists who have worked with celebrities including Naomi Campbell.

Fitness First Vision Tower

A new platinum Fitness First gym has opened in Business Bay. The mixed facility is an expansive 19,000 square foot with dedicated group exercise space, spinning and cardio studios, plus a juice bar and member’s lounge with wi-fi. Sign up online for a free trial class.

Newly renovated for the summer season, this Palm Jumeirah bar will reopen on Saturday July 18 offering a new British food and drinks menu. Its private karaoke room has also been given a facelift.

Crooners used to this spot’s friendly and encouraging vibe, and its happy hour deals, will sing for joy when the karaoke bar re-opens on Saturday July 18.

Toy Room Dubai
The notorious Frank the Bear is returning from his summer holidays in Mykonos where Toy Room has recently launched. The club mascot welcomes guests on a new night; Toy Fever Fridays. The place – which also has branch in London - opened in April 2015 and plays Hip Hop and RnB and other mainstream music on weekend nights. Their House music night is on a Wednesday.

Closed for renovation but set to re-open mid-August, this pan-Asian restaurant will be back with a new menu and a fresher look, but with the same great views and live entertainment.
