Things we learned this week

Brunch has gone bonkers
Dhs2,900 for brunch is a lot. Especially when that price tag is PER. HEAD. It might, in fact, be record-breaking. Pierchic is making headlines with the top tier bubbly package for it’s new Brunch en Blanc. (Don’t worry, prices actually start from a mere Dhs450…)

Smart boards have been banned
In malls, at least. The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) has asked all shopping centres to ban the use of smart balance wheels on their premises, following complaints and fears about safety.

There’s a zip line in downtown
An incredible zip line has been installed across the length of The Dubai Fountain – and who better to show it off than His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. A video of the royal flying over the iconic landmark has gone viral.

Netflix is coming
Box set and movie lovers of Dubai will no doubt be thrilled to hear that Netflix is finally set to launch in the Middle East by the end of 2016. No detailed information on the regional platform’s content has been released as yet, so stay tuned.

Friday mornings on the metro are hit
A really, really big hit. It’s only been a few weeks since trains started picking up at 10am, but prepare to have your face pressed up against the glass. And not for the view.
