Nothing gets you in the spirit of Christmas than a good old sing song, mince pies, mulled beverages and a tree lighting ceremony. Here are some of the best around town this year.
Traditionally one of the largest trees in town, the imposing Lobby Lounge tree is a floor-to-ceiling fir that will be switched on in the company of a school choir and festive treats.

St Regis Dubai
A five-metre tall tree takes centre stage in the lobby of this brand new hotel. Resplendent in gold, this will set the trend for what we can expect from the St Regis in 2016. Expect hot chocolate, mulled beverages and, for the children, gingerbread men.

Fairmont The Palm
Santa will make his first appearance of the season at the Fairmont’s tree lighting ceremony. There will be a children’s choir, festive treats and children’s storytelling.

Raffles will be awash with festive cheer as Santa, songs, sweet treats and the traditional lighting ceremony ring in the season around a six-metre lobby tree.

Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach
The lobby tree will push the boundaries of traditional decoration, described as an ‘homage to gastronomy and Art de la Table’. The official lighting ceremony takes place with local school choirs all evening.

A five-metre tree wants you to help decorate it. During the traditional tree lighting ceremony, guests will be asked to write their Christmas wish on the back of a star and hang it on the tree. Prizes are up for grabs.

Once again staking a claim for one of the biggest outdoor trees in the UAE, there will also be a full choir, mulled beverages and plenty of homemade goodies.

Standing at almost four metres, the green, gold and red tree will be officially lit up in the company of Santa and William Warwick, while mulled beverages, hot chocolate and homemade cookies will be on offer during a performance by an in-house choir.

Snow is falling, all around you, as carol singers and Santa Claus join families for the traditional tree lighting ceremony. Don’t miss out on the homemade mince pies, either.

InterContinental Dubai Festival City
The tree in the lobby will stretch to a whopping eight metres and use more than 100 metres of lights among its white and silver theme. An in-house choir will perform at the lighting ceremony.

Bab Al Shams
Head out of town and experience a Christmas festival atmosphere as Bab Al Shams lights up with an evening of special events centred around their tree. The family-focussed event will have carol singers, mulled beverages and other things to do for all ages.

Saddle up to Santa and enjoy the traditional lighting of the tree and a festive choir as Christmas kicks off in the community.

Get your Christmas dinner thrown in when Spikes Bar hosts the club’s traditional lighting ceremony. Expect all the trimmings as well as carol singers and live music from the band, while those who wish to stay later can take part in special themed quiz night.
