When UberChopper launched back in December in time for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, we couldn’t help but think it was a great gimmick, a terrific piece of marketing.

“Arrive at the most lavish event of the year in a helicopter,” they said. It was perfect.

And maybe that’s all it was supposed to be. However, so successful was the initial weekend ferrying people from Dubai to the capital, the company officially rolled out UberTour shortly after.

Unfortunately that didn’t exactly mean you could use the service for the morning commute, but as a thing to do in Dubai, especially as we hit peak visitor season, the 20-minute journey through the skies is right up there.

Those interested in seeing the city from the sky, need only use the app to book. Flights cost Dhs530 per person when booking a group of six, or Dhs630 for individual seats.

Then when it comes to the big day, simply use the taxi side of the business to be ferried to the departure terminal at Atlantis.

From there, we’ll let our very own intrepid reporter pick up the story...
