‘I think it’s a bit magical,’ says Emma Findlay, who appears as Angelina Ballerina in the ballet of the same name at Ductac this week. ‘It’s really colourful and the music is great. I’m not a kid any more, but even when I sit out front and watch it I just love it.’
Based on the popular children’s TV series, and performed by the English National Ballet, the show has enjoyed great success during recent tours around the UK and Australia. Apparently, it even broke records for theatre ticket sales in Melbourne. Fair dinkum, mate.
Ballet-dancing animals and a core message about going after big dreams makes this a must-see for your little ’uns, and as Findlay points out, the production is perfectly timed so they don’t get bored. ‘The first half is 24 minutes and the second is about 29, so it’s just the right length to hold their attention,’ she explains. Which means you won’t get a numb bum, either.
