Nakheel Metro station might be way out yonder, teetering as it is on the outskirts of Dubai, but with feeder buses going from the station to the likes of Emirates Hills (F35), the Meadows (F38) and Knowledge Village (F32), there’s plenty to explore.

1 Emirates Golf Club: This is probably the only place within walking distance of the metro station. In true Dubai ‘best and blingest’ fashion, it won the top spot in Golf Digest’s Top-100 golf courses outside the US. You can relax in any one of its many restaurants and bars – after you’re done putting on the greens that play host to the Dubai Desert Classic, that is. We recommend the Sports Bar: it has seven flat screen TVs and more than 20 channels of sport.
04 380 2222, 8am-5pm daily
2 minutes walking distance from the station

2 Bare Gents Salon: A salon for the über-stylish and metrosexual man, offering services ranging from routine haircuts to manicures and pedicures, and even Moroccan baths. Avoid going during the weekend if you can, as it’s packed with loyal customers who swear by the quality of service.

8 minutes driving distance from the station

3 Hayya! Fitness Club: Hayya! boasts facilities ranging from a gym (with a ladies-only section) to a swimming pool, plus tennis and squash courts. While the gym is not meant for use by non-members, anyone can book from a range of classes offered at the Hayya! clubs, which are at affordable prices, so it won’t be too tough on the wallet. Try Thai boxing for Dhs60 a session or Power Bhangra for Dhs50.

4 Beyond The Beach: Love hitting Dubai’s many beaches? Then take the feeder bus from the metro straight here. Selling swimwear, beachwear and a range of accessories that come in handy for an afternoon’s bask in the sun, it also offers everyday clothes with a sporty flair.

5 Heritage Touch Trading: Add a touch of culture to your home with buys from Heritage Touch Trading. Antique chests, rugs and pashmina shawls are just some of the items you’ll find. Although the Springs Village is furthest away from the metro, this shop is worth the bus ride.

6 Riot Art Photography Studio: Make some memories by heading over to Riot Art’s portrait studio. The photographer works while you hang out and have fun with your loved ones, making for natural, fun pictures.
