It was only last month that it was announced Dubai is to host the first Drone World Prix, so perhaps it’s no surprise that one of the largest aerial filming projects ever conducted using unmanned aerial vehicles has been unveiled.
Emirates airline have released a video showcasing the most recognisable landmarks of the city, and most unique of all, the clip shows access to places other aircrafts wouldn’t usually get to capture.
The fresh clip gets just metres away from the edges of the planet’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, plus other stunning bird’s-eye view shots in the video titled, View from Above.
Teaming up with Boeing, footage was provided by Dubai Film who used “innovative technologies in creative ways to produce dramatic footage”.
The capabilities of the drones meant previously unseen aerial imagery and perspectives could be produced with precision in tighter spaces.
Boutros Boutros, Emirates’ Divisional Senior Vice President, Corporate Communications, Marketing and Brand said: “Our aim is to always connect with our audiences around the world, and we hope that people are inspired by these unique films.”
“Partnering with Emirates for this project was a tremendously exciting venture,” Jerry Verghese, Vice President, Global Brand Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes shared. “The combination of technology, art and innovation to bring about these fabulous vignettes of Emirates’ destinations around the world is remarkable.”
March 10 will see the opening event in the evening and the following day is set to have freestyle and track races. Teams will practice in Dubai on March 9 in preparation for the real thing.
