Dubai Airport to charge Dhs35 to all passengers

Time Out Dubai announces that Dubai Airport to charge Dhs35 to all passengers, as part of the projections to have 100 million people using Dubai International

Any airline passengers passing through Dubai airport will soon have to pay for the privilege.

Confirmed as costing Dhs35, the new rule is effective for travel after June 30, 2016. Collection is the responsibility of the individual airlines, which means the levy will likely be applied at the time of booking.

According to the Executive Council Resolution No (8), approved today by Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the fee will be used to help improve the infrastructure at Dubai's airports in line with targets of handling 100 million passengers by 2023.

The targets are partnered by the expansion plans for the state-of-the-art Concourse D at Dubai International, as well as works to the current Terminal 1 and 2.

The resolution exempts those under the age of two, as well as cabin crew and transit passengers whose arrival and departure flight number are same.
