The launch of Dubai Parks And Resorts is six months away and as interest ramps up, one of the six pillars of the development have released behind-the-scenes footage from the site.
Last month motiongate announced all details of the 27 key rides and attractions., but their newest video shines a great light on how they'll all fit into the park.
Shot around early March, it's done using drones and presented by key figures from the organisers, including Director Daniel Cuffe, it is a whistle-stop tour of the construction site, taking you inside area previously not revealed.
For example, Cuffe explains that the iconic Ghostbusters Firehouse is currently being built to house the themed ride, while areas like mushroom-topped-buildings in Smurfs Village, as well as Shrek's Lagoon, are all shown in the development phase and as final renderings.
The highlight of the exclusive footage, though, is the up close look at The Green Hornet rollercoaster. Still not decorated, the tracks is in place and it is the first major insight into the complexity and excitement of the ride.
motiongate Dubai, itself one of six “worlds” at the Dhs10.5 billion Jebel Ali site, alongside Bollywood Land, Legoland, Legoland Waterpark, Lapita Hotel and Riverland.
In total, 13 Hollywood blockbusters will be re-imagined. Madagascar Mad Pursuit will be a “windy course filled with sharp turns” and The Green Hornet: High Speed Chase will have “dizzying drops”. Meanwhile How To Train Your Dragon: Dragon Gliders will be top of the to-do list for white-knuckle enthusiasts. It’s described as “an exhilarating suspended roller coaster soaring high above”.
These rides join Capitol Bullet Train, based on The Hunger Games, which was announced in 2015. Beyond that, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs will be built into water rapids, while one of three Shrek activations will be a log flume, Swamp Celebration.
Late last year, it was confirmed that an iconic scene from Zombieland – the one in which Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin fend off the walking dead while bouncing on a tower ride – would be replicated as the 58 metre free-fall Blast Off.
Other films to feature include Ghostbusters (“an interactive dark ride and shooting game”), Kung Fu Panda (“classic tea cups”), and Hotel Transylvania (“frenetic and fun”).
It was also revealed that The Dubai Fountain will have some competition from “Fountain Of Dreams”, a water and light show in the heart of the park. Live entertainment will include daily performances at the entrance and interactive theatre shows, including Step Up Dubai, All In! and Underworld 4D. October can’t come soon enough.
