To celebrate India’s Independence Day, Legoland Dubai (part of the upcoming Dubai Parks and Resorts) has unveiled a stunning Taj Mahal miniature model.
Made up of 280,741 LEGO bricks and weighing more than 645 kilos, the ultra-realistic replica took 2,019 hours to put together.
Even though that equates to 84 days, it’s still logically a lot less than the building time of the original and full-size Taj Mahal, the majestic mausoleum taking approximately 20 years to be completed.
White Lego bricks with accents of gold, black and red do a great job of replicating the ivory-coloured marble of the original, and the great news is that we can expect up to 15,000 more Lego structures when Legoland Dubai officially opens on October 31 as part of Dubai Parks and Resorts.
The mini Taj Mahal is the first landmark replica unveiled as part of Legoland Dubai's Miniland, as the miniature city is dubbed.
It will feature recreations of iconic sights and landmarks from Dubai and other parts of the world. Judging by this video of another Lego-themed resort, it's going to be fantastic!
Dubai's love of Lego goes back a few years as this 2011 photo of a mini Burj Khalifa replica shows.
