The rise of the metrosexual footballer may have come long after Maradona hung up his boots, but The Argentinian star couldn’t resist the temptation of some top-class pampering while visiting Dubai this week.
On Sunday, his wife Rocio Oliva posted an Instagram photo of him with his face covered in what looks like a mud mask.
“It’s not the best photo of you but to me you look divine,” the caption reads in Spanish, with a location tag for the Palm Residence on the Palm.
Maradona, who married the 26 year old in 2014, didn’t seem too happy to be caught on camera in a video that Oliva also took and later posted on Facebook.
Judging by the comments however, Diego can do no wrong, his fans reminding him of just how much they love him.
Over the weekend, the 55 year old also took part in a training match in Dubai ahead of a charity match in Rome next week, for which he has picked a selection of Emirati players for his squad.
Maradona, known as The Golden Boy and a host of other nicknames in his native Argentina, actually lived in Dubai while managing Al Wasl FC in 2011.
It was a short-lived stint at the club as the club’s owners gave him the boot after just one year following a disappointing season.
But it seems the best player of his generation still spends extended periods of time in the city, making regular appearances at events or just enjoying the perks that come with being here.
Judging by his wife's Instagram posts, the pair have been here for at least two weeks.
We leave you with a video to remind you of just how good Diego was in his prime. Best footballer of all time? You be the judge!
