A month ago, some Time Out readers were left feeling a bit unimpressed by the latest addition to Dubai Police’s car fleet - the Toyota FJ Cruiser.
After all, the long arm of the law here does have us accustomed to some pretty amazing and expensive acquisitions, including the Bugatti Veron, Mercedes SLS, Bentley Continental GT, Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF and many other super rides.
So those who thought the FJ Cruiser wasn’t on the same level as the rest will probably be happy to hear that the Dhs642,000 McLaren 570S is now officially part of the Dubai Police fleet.
“It has the latest police technology and can reach a top speed of 338kph,” said Colonel Mubarak Saeed, Head of Tourist Police Patrol Section at Dubai Police.
The beast of a car will carry the Expo 2020 logo and be driven around some of Dubai’s top tourist areas, including Downtown, JBR and Jumeirah.
Its appearance is likely to leave onlookers enthralled, especially if they see it ‘taking off’, as it can do 0 to 200kph in an unbelievable 9.5 seconds.
As McLaren puts it, “it’s the ultimate sports car experience. Completely driver-centric and performance oriented, the 570S Coupé is equally at home on the track as it is on the open road. With the lightest weight in its class and the highest power to weight ratio, it delivers super car punch and thrills that would shame many more expensive rivals.”
