Remember when a whale shark was seen in Dubai Marina in August last year, and it broke the internet?

Well today Thursday November 3 2016 will also be remembered for another rare animal sighting in Dubai. Dolphins!

The aquatic mammals loved by pretty much everybody on the planet for their intelligence and straight-up cuteness.

As you can see in the pictures above, a pod of dolphins (yes, that’s what you call a group or school of these animals) were spotted swimming around in the sea in front of JBR.

Time Out's Shitika Anand headed down to the beach and thanks to the Sky & Sea Adventures team was able to hop on board a boat, head out to sea and come up close to the dolphins.

Sightings such as this one are rare, although since Time Out published its live video on Facebook, people have come forward to claim the pod of dolphins were visible from Skydive Dubai earlier this week.

Musandam in Oman, at the top of the Arabian Peninsula, is the place in the Arabian Gulf most well-known for its dolphin sightings, around 200 kilometres from Dubai's shores.
