Rise at Dubai Creek Harbour Promenade starts tomorrow

DJs, beatboxing, outdoor cinema and food trucks

A new outdoor entertainment launches on the Dubai Creek Promenade this weekend and it could well be the coolest place to be in Dubai.

Rise will be free to all comers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and highlights of opening weekend include the molecular gastronomy, beatboxing, multimedia performances, DJs and al fresco screenings of the full Back to the Future Trilogy.

Run by property and lifestyle giant Emaar, Rise Dubai Creek Harbour is billed as the "future of living" and a look at how "design is helping shape tomorrow". As, er, cool as all that sounds, we're actually excited by the curated events and activations down by the Creek. The fun and games happen from noon to midnight on Thursday through to Saturday, with screenings of consecutive Back to the Future movies scheduled for 9pm each night. Watching Marty McFly skateboard his way through time would be recommended any evening, but drop by Rise any time to find something fun.

Salt Food Truck and Vida Hotel food trucks will be among the foodie providers all weekend long, as well as demonstrations from scientific cooking bods The Inventing Room. A roaming robot, virtual rality installations, arty water and building projections, beatboxing from Cosmin Cioca, audio-visual performances from Emirati performer Jumairy and some neat little Lego-style electronic toys for kids are on the agenda too, making this well worth a pop-in. Music and DJ performances from the likes of David Craig and Z The People are providing the backdrop forwhat could be the most hipster-friendly activity in Dubai right now.

Free. Thu, Jan 25-Sat, Jan 27. Dubai Creek Harbour Promenade. For more information on the full schedule and detailed directions, visit www.risedch.com.
