Dubai taxis now come with wi-fi and flat screens

More than 1,000 fully-equipped taxis are hitting the streets

It’s the moment tourists and pre-pay SIM owners have been waiting for: more than 1,000 licensed RTA taxis are hitting the streets, fully equipped with wi-fi and interactive touch screens.

The Dubai Taxi Corporation, along with the RTA, is now entering the second phase of its project to roll out wi-fi and interactive screens across its fleet. After the expansion effort announced today, 1,314 taxis will come equipped with either wi-fi or a screen, or both – which represents 26 per cent of the total fleet of more than 5,000 vehicles.

Today’s announcement will see 700 taxis added to the fleet, which is designed to boost customer satisfaction, but will also more accurately allow passengers to review their journey and provide feedback on their driver. This, in turn, is intended to make travelling in RTA taxis a wholly better experience.
