Public holiday confirmed for Dubai

There’s a long weekend just around the corner, and we absolutely cannot wait

It’s official. Everyone can have a long weekend next week, because the government has announced that Sunday April 23 will officially be a public holiday.

The holiday marks Al Isra’a Wal Mi’raj, the two parts of the night journey taken by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to the “Farthest Mosque” in Jerusalem. The Ministry of Human Resource and Emiratization declared Saturday April 22 will be the official holiday for private sector organisations which only observe Friday as the weekly holiday, while organisations which give both Friday and Saturday as holiday will be given Sunday April 22 as an extra day. Regular office hours for all companies will resume by Monday April 24.

So everyone can turn off that alarm, have a lie in and some coffee in bed on Sunday week.
