Whale shark spotted at Jumeirah Fishing Harbour

Latest sighting of the world's largest fish species off Dubai's coast

Dubai’s waters have attracted a variety of sea life to its shores, including dolphins and orcas and yes, that whale shark in Dubai Marina.

And this week it happened again, only this time at Jumeirah Fishing Harbour.

The National has reported that the lights of Dubai’s many skyscrapers attracted the world’s largest fish, measuring four metres long, to the coast. Four metres is sizeable enough, but this one’s a baby compared to the 12 metres when fully grown.

But don’t worry, shark expert Dr. David Robinson was quoted as saying there’s no cause for alarm, this species of shark is not aggressive and the relatively little fella will find his way back to open waters in no time.

"Nothing needs to be done about the whale shark or to guide it towards open waters; the best way to go about it is let it be on its own. It will find its way around and move outwards,” he said, according to The National.
