Getting DEWA connected just got a little more complicated

An extra step has been included, here’s what you need to know

If you’re moving house anytime soon, this is something you need to know about.

DEWA has announced that as of Saturday July 1, any new property connections will require an attested Ejari certificate. Basically, that means you have to have registered your residency at your home before you move in, in order to get electricity and water services connected to your house.

“Effective July 1 2017, a valid Ejari is mandatory to activate your DEWA supply without the need to visit DEWA customer happiness centres,” DEWA said.

On the other hand, though, once you’ve got your Ejari contract attested, you don’t have to visit any DEWA offices, and can just input your account and premise numbers (which can also be provided by the landlord) on the DEWA website, pay your security deposit online, and expect connection within 24 hours of payment.
