Dubai Taxi limos coming to Uber

Uber’s roster of drivers is about to expand with luxury RTA rides

You’ll soon be able to book a Dubai Taxi limo through your Uber app, following an agreement between the Californian ride-hailing company and the RTA.

What does this mean for you? Well, in theory it will add swathes of new taxis to Uber’s already substantial roster, and means shorter waiting times and hopefully less time spent watching your app say “searching for driver”.

The announcement, made by the RTA, is a move from the transport authority to ensure broader availability of its taxis and indicates a shift towards more digital options for residents seeking a ride.

“Under this arrangement, DTC offers the service of deluxe limo driven by highly skilled chauffeurs fully cognizant of Dubai’s road networks,” the RTA said on Twitter. “The signing of this agreement concurs with the directives of our leadership to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world.”

As of yet, there is no set date for the rollout of the new service, but we’ll keep you updated as we move closer to a launch date.
