If you’ve been walking along Dubai Water Canal or near Business Bay today, you might have noticed something intriguing on the waters.

Well, the mysteriously wrapped deliveries you can see above are a brilliant new addition to Dubai’s residential scene – floating homes. That’s right – actual, floating homes have anchored in the Dubai Water Canal, and they look absolutely stunning.

Dubai Properties is moving nine new homes into the canal as part of the ambitious, Dhs1 billion Marasi Business Bay project, having spent the past few weeks shipping them over from Finland. And now, the first has been floated through the mouth of the Dubai Water Canal into its final docking place.

The floating homes form part of a huge development around the waterways of Business Bay, which is rapidly moving towards the launch phase for a number of projects. Across September and October, expect to hear more news about the arrival of a floating restaurant and yacht club, the latter of which is already seeing vessels mooring into the 800-capacity facility.

You can expect to see dragon boat racing and training zones on the river, plus three main sites being developed around the area – the park (which will see a new yoga hub open in October), the marina (home to the floating homes) and the pier (more on that to come).

The homes aren’t on sale yet, nor have they been pre-sold, so watch this space for information on how to get yourself into one of these beauties.
