Dubai Municipality has launched a new way for UAE residents to enter public parks that charge an entry fee in the emirate.
Following the implementation of Smart Gates at four of Dubai’s most popular parks, UAE residents will no longer be able to pay in cash at the gate in return for a paper ticket to enter the park. Instead, Dubai Municipality has announced that Nol cards will need to be used to pay entry fees.
The smart payment cards, ordinarily used to access Dubai’s public transport network, will now need to be used to make payment to enter Zabeel Park, Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park and Creek Park, according to a report in Gulf News.
So now, if you travel to these parks by Dubai Metro, bus or the Dubai Tram, you can top up your card with both your travel costs and your park entry fee, and pay for everything with a handy swipe of just one card.
UAE residents who don’t have a Nol card will be able to purchase one at the park gates, and visitors on holiday from abroad will be exempt from the initiative.
So if you always find you never quite have the cash that you need to hand, this handy little scheme will make your life so much easier. Get swiping.
