Watch the best outdoor movies this month at The Backyard

The Outdoor Cinema Dubai series kicks off this week

There’s nothing better than a good movie – aside from a good movie under the stars with a juicy hot dog and a mound of popcorn.

Movie Nights at The Backyard, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, offer just that, and its January screenings are all absolute corkers.

Tonight (January 9) will show 2009 comedy The Hangover, starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis.

The movie follows the hilarious antics of the friends following stag do in Las Vegas and their search for the missing groom in the eleventh hour before the wedding.

Next week (January 16) it’s time to dust off your leather jackets and coif up those quiffs for a bit of Greased Lightning, and a look at John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in their prime.

Is there anything better than the twinkle toes of Danny Zuko or the sweet innocence of Sandra Dee? We think not.

Except, perhaps, the total elegance of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s (January23) and the sassy attitude of everyone’s favourite diamond in the rough, Vivian, in Pretty Woman (January 30).

What we’re saying is that there’s something for everyone, and The Backyard itself isn’t too shabby.

The street yard-inspired outdoor space is home to a food truck serving a selection of street food favourites from South East Asia, and the walls are adorned with the graffiti of renowned artist Ramy Elzaghawy.

Movie tickets cost Dhs75, and they’ll even throw in a free hot dog and unlimited popcorn. Sounds like a fairy tale ending to us.

Dhs75. Tuesdays 7.30pm. The Backyard, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay, Business Bay. Tickets available at Platinumlist, dubai.platinumlist.net.
