Burj Khalifa Chinese New Year light show announced

World’s tallest tower also introduces another new show, Strides

Just in case you needed another reason to visit the world’s tallest building this weekend, Emaar has just announced that the Burj Khalifa will host another special version of its New Year’s Eve spectacular, Light Up 2018, this time to mark the Chinese New Year.

Head to Downtown Dubai from Friday February 16 until Saturday 24 for twice daily shows beaming out from the city’s single most iconic landmark.

Shows will run at 8pm and 10pm, taking the place of the ongoing Light Up 2018 show that broke a Guinness World Record when it saw in the New Year. That light show has been extended to run until the end of March, giving everyone a chance catch the spectacle. Now, a series of special performances will be available too.

The Chinese New Year celebrations (for which, we’ve rounded up some of the city’s top dining deals here) at the Burj Khalifa are also supplemented by a new light display called Strides. Strides, which is being described as a celebration of technology meeting nature, will be viewable during the CNY period, with displays running hourly from 6.15pm until 10.15pm on weekdays, and every 30 minutes from 6.15pm until 10.45pm on the weekend.

Creators can also win the opportunity to have their work shown on the Burj Khalifa’s brand-new LED façade. Present your proposal either as an individual or creative group, a five-minute video in MOV format, and send it to artanddesign@burjkhalifa.ae by Wednesday February 28.
