Dubai is getting a floating market with 17 air-conditioned boat boutiques

The unique destination is expected to attract as many as nine million people over the next year

If you're looking for an alternative to Dubai's enormous shopping malls, then you're in luck.

The Middle East's first floating market is launching later this year at Al Seef in Dubai Creek with 17 boat boutiques.

Even better, the abra-inspired vessels are all air-conditioned, so you'll be able to shop well into the summer months.

They'll be stationed across 1.8km housing both local and international brands from the art and fashion scenes.

Others will offer food and beverages to keep you refreshed as you nip from boat to boat.

It is expected to attract an influx of shoppers with as many as nine million people visiting over the next year.

Dubai's Sheikha Maitha Hasher Al Maktoum came up with the idea - and His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum has visited the project.

An exact opening date hasn't yet been confirmed - but we can't wait to get shopping. Keep an eye on Time Out Dubai for all the latest.
