Bobby McFerrin told us don’t worry, be happy – while Pharrell sang about happiness in the streets.
Now Dubai is encouraging us to turn our frowns upside down and embark on a journey of joy in the run up to the International Day of Happiness on Tuesday (March 20).
With just a couple of days to go, we expect the corners of your mouths are twitching already, but if not then there are plenty of activities to lift your mood before the big day itself.
Today’s events kick off with a Bollywood performance at 4.30pm at Dubai Design District, followed by talks about optimism through adversity, compassion and other heart-warming topics.
Tomorrow’s events will commence with Dubai Centre for Special Needs Orchestra before a line-up including “decoding happiness” and “food togetherness” – which sounds excellent.
The finale on Tuesday will get going with The Dubai Performing Arts Children’s Choir and will wrap up with Planetary Dance.
The Happiness Journey is an initiative by the National Program for Happiness and Positivity that engages visitors with multi-sensory experiences to raise awareness of how to lead healthier and happier lifestyles in the UAE.
The next phase of the Happiness Journey, under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, is aimed at supporting the UAE's efforts to achieve a better quality of life for the whole community.
The activities are free for the public to attend from 4pm until 10pm at Dubai Design District and you can find the full schedule for the rest of the Happiness Journey here.
Now, show us those dimples!
