Dubai World Cup weather: How to plan your outfit for the races

It promises to be a fashion extravaganza in Dubai this weekend

1/31

The hottest event on Dubai’s racing calendar is rapidly approaching, and the fashion elite will be out in force at this year’s Dubai World Cup.

This Saturday (March 31) it’s going to be a literal scorcher, with temperatures set to reach 34 degrees celsius and throw all of your outfit options into disarray. Maxi dresses are a risk in such heat and tulle is totally out of the question.

That being said, it’s four days until the big event so if you haven’t got your outfit sorted you better giddy up.

One way to make sure you are in perpetual shade is to invest in a wide-brimmed hat or alternatively stick on an elaborate fascinator and stick to the air con.

Fashionistas can pick up some super-stylish headgear at Emily – London, a couture millinery label offering exclusive hats and specialised headpieces for luxury occasions.

There are currently two Emily – London pop-ups in Dubai, one in Bloomingdale's in Dubai Mall and the second in Harvey Nichols in the Mall of the Emirates.

If you do venture down to Dubai Mall, it would be criminal not to take a turn around the new Fashion Avenue, which is home to 150 luxury brands including Burberry and Ralph Lauren.

Or if you’re in JBR or City Walk areas, take a look around GLASSING, for some protective eyewear from the sun’s rays (with a bit of an edge).

We can’t wait to see what weird and wonderful ensembles you rustle up.
From Dhs630. Sat Mar 31, from 12pm. Meydan Racecourse, Meydan City (04 327 0077).
