Aquaventure After Dark combines water slides and DJs

Eat, dance and slide at Dubai’s Atlantis The Palm waterpark

Around Town

We love waterslides and we’ve been known to bop around to a few DJs in our time, which is why this late-night event at Aquaventure has got us very excited.

After Dark sees the Atlantis The Palm waterpark swing open its gates at 7.30pm on Thursday April 5 for moonlit fun set to the backdrop of a live DJ.

Not only will you be able to hurl yourself down more than 20 scary waterslides under the stars, you’ll also be able to stuff your face from a load of live cooking stations and win some pretty nifty prizes.

Music will be spun out by DJ Shef Codes and Saif&Sound in three DJ zones and Dhs100,000 worth of prizes will be up for grabs including a night in Atlantis The Palm’s Underwater Suite.

Games include The Leap of Faith’s Loudest Scream and 100 Grand in the Sand. We’ll be taking our shovels, then.

Live cooking stations will be dotted around, offering up dishes from Dhs35 including Shanghai noodles, foot-long hot dogs, pulled chicken quesadillas, biryani boxes and Arabic-spiced chicken shawarmas. Shark Bites and Barracudas restaurants will also offer indoor and outdoor seating and something for every taste including Arabic mezze, freshly baked pizzas, falafel, dosa, fish and chips and barbecued meats fresh off the grill.

Kids will be able to enjoy the new play area, Splasher’s Island, as well as the original Splasher’s Mountain, with seven new waterslides and a giant dry play structure shaped like a Dhow
Dhs95 (early bird ticket), Dhs135 (thereafter). Thu Apr 5, 7.30pm-11.30pm. Atlantis The Palm, Palm Jumeirah (04 426 2000).
