Dubai’s Gitex Shopper in April is not happening

It has been merged with the main week in October

We've got some bad news for bargain hunters looking for some pre-summer deals.

Tech shopping event Gitex – which was set to take place from Tuesday April 3 until Saturday April 7 – has been cancelled.

Instead, it has been merged with the main week in October which means you’ll have to wait until autumn to get your hands on the cheap offers.

Organisers said that they will be able to deliver stronger promotions by merging the two events at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

It is now set to take place on Tuesday October 2 until Saturday October 6.

Gitex Shopper is the biggest and longest-running consumer electronics show in the region and attracts exhibitors including Dell, Asus, Microsoft, HP, Samsung and more.

Typically, the companies offer great deals to consumers in April and save their announcements for the main week in October.

Jumbo Electronic, one of the retailers taking part, had this to day: “DWTC’s decision to merge the two events after consultation with retailers supports us in creating a more focused festive promotional campaign to offer best value to shoppers.”

But the good news is that if you’re looking for some pre-summer deals, Time Out Dubai has got you sorted.

Not only do we have all the latest on cheap staycations and nights out, but we have plenty of information on the best happy hours and cheap restaurants.

Not only that, but this city is full of free things to do – which we’ve rounded up here.
