When is Dubai's next long weekend? Plan ahead for Eid Al-Fitr

It comes at the end of Ramadan 2018

Many private sector workers were hoping for an extra day off last weekend as Al Isra’a Wal Mi’raj fell on Saturday – but it wasn't to be.

So you might be wondering this morning when is the next chance for a long weekend.

Many of the UAE’s public holidays are dependent on phases of the moon, which makes it hard to be completely sure until a few days beforehand.

Eid Al-Fitr is the next public holiday on the calendar, signalling the end of Ramadan, but it looks like it too may fall during the weekend.

So it’s likely the next long weekend won’t be until August, when Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha arrive.

They are expected to fall on Tuesday August 21 and Wednesday August 22.

It’s likely many workers will get three days off, which will run into the weekend and mean five consecutive days off in total.

So it’s maybe time to start planning a short getaway – although we can’t be certain of the dates yet, of course.

After that, the next long weekend will most likely be in December to mark UAE National Day.

The special event is held to commemorate the birth of the nation every December 2, which this year falls on a Sunday.
