While we used to get news of public holidays from the UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Dubai will now be making its own.
The Department of Human Resources will reveal the dates of the breaks following an official announcement.
For example, holidays in the UAE are usually moved to the beginning or end of the week if they fall between two working days.
Now, the city will be making the decisions on what days will be considered a public holiday.
For us, this means we may be getting different days off from the rest of the emirates.
The resolution was signed and issued on Tuesday April 24.
State news agency WAM stated that the government department will specify the dates, and will be “taking into consideration the working mechanisms and hours of governmental bodies and organisations”.
We currently have approximately seven public holidays left for the rest of the year. Forgot when they were? Check out our list of dates.
