Finishing a jigsaw might just be one of the most difficult childhood feats.

Where are the corners? How are you supposed to match up pieces that are the same colour? And just where on Earth is that missing piece?

But if you thought that your 1,000-piece post-impressionist canal scene was a tough build, then you’ll be in awe of the folks at the DMCC freezone.

They've just broken the Guinness World Record for the Largest Jigsaw – and it has more than 12,000 pieces.

The incredible puzzle featuring the official logo of the Year of Zayed initiative spans an area of more than 6,000 sq m, and it looks absolutely spectacular.

It was put together in DMCC's new Uptown Dubai district and was unveiled by a group of invitees who moved the final pieces into place.

The puzzle is three times the size of an Olympic swimming pool in length.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC, said: "It gives us a lot of pride to be able to do this, and have His Highness's name during the Year of Zayed in the Guinness Book of Records."

He added: "I looked at a lot of initiatives coming up and it just has a good feel to it. I like this particular one because you can see it from the helicopter and airplane.

"I like the location here, it's where we're going to build the tallest commercial tower in the world, it's the city of records and I think it's very fitting.

"We'll see what else happens in the UAE. There's still a lot of time to celebrate the Year of Zayed."

The UAE is celebrating The Year of Zayed in 2018 to mark the milestone 100th anniversary of the birth of the nation’s late founding father, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

It is highlighting the role of the late leader in establishing the UAE Federation, and his local, regional and international achievements.
