Learn to surf at Dubai's Laguna Waterpark

Master the waves at La Mer from just Dhs75

Learn to surf at Dubai's Laguna Waterpark

Now that the city’s newest waterpark is in full flow, it’s time to grab a bit of a cool-down in the middle of the summer heat, and if you’ve always wanted to learn to surf, your time has come.

Laguna Waterpark at the constantly buzzing destination of La Mer is now offering stand-up FlowBoarding lessons, and they’re not only great fun, they’re also bargainous value.

The park has introduced two epic surfing opportunities every week, where you can learn from a three-time world FlowRider Champion, as well as the UAE Flow Riding Team.

It all takes place on the park’s huge, 180-degree surf machine (The WaveOz 180 FlowRider), and individual stand-up surf lessons are available daily from 10am to 8pm. Because the machine is split into two sections, learners won’t be bumping into other waterparkers who want to have a bit of a body-boarding session. Regular lessons cost just Dhs75, after your Dhs99 entry fee (for residents booking online).

But if you want to upgrade your learning experience, and take your lead from the three-time world FlowRiding champion Clayton Barker, you can join the 180 Flow Club, where you’ll get three hours of learning every Saturday from 8am to 11am, costing Dhs175.

“This is the next generation competition wave of the future, and I’m sure there will be some new talent emerging from the 180 Flow Club in no time,” said Barker.

So, if you’ve been wanting to master the waves, what are you waiting for?

We recently gave surfing a shot when we visited Laguna Waterpark in La Mer, and (perhaps unsurprisingly) it didn’t go well…
