Out and about with Hatty Pedder

Dubai-based artist attends a fashion show in the Madinat Jumeirah

1/2

Artist Hatty Pedder shares her latest blog illustrations, inspired by Dubai’s creative scene.

What: Fashion Forward season one, showcasing the region’s top fashion designers to consumers, the media and buyers.
Where: Madinat Conference Centre, Madinat Jumeirah.
When: Friday April 26.

We ate: Lots of canapés at the Fashion Brunch, washed down with some refreshing, healthy and vibrant mixed drinks.

We saw: A whole host of fashion shows and talks over three days. Filipino couturier Ezra Santos’ show ‘Ezra’, which was inspired by Gaudi’s architecture, was utterly beautiful and moving, leaving hardly a dry eye in the audience. I knew immediately that I’d be inking this.

The vibe: Relaxed and glamorous with an electric buzz in the air.

The guests: The best set of socialites, artists and incredibly cool people attended. When I spotted Shawn Stephens Vessaokar, account director at Z7 Communications, looking fabulous, I knew he’d be my inking subject.

The dress: Eclectic and edgy ranging from ladies in turbans to men in lace with green hair.

Best overheard statement: ‘I can’t believe I am crying over clothes, but I realise it’s about dreams and aspirations.’ Ramzi Naked, managing partner at event company Brag. For Hatty’s blog and more of her art, see www.hattypedder.com.

Next week: Trésors Sauvages fashion show at Fashion Forward.
