If you’re in Dubai over the summer, make the most of the quieter period and learn a new skill (or create a masterpiece show off on your wall). Whether you fancy yourself a painter or a potter, there are plenty of places all over the city offering courses or workshops to get involved in. Here are five of our picks.
The organisation is holding a summer camp for adults and teens – bonding session anyone? On offer is host of sessions until Thursday August 4, including painting, pottery, sculpture and jewellery-making. Lessons on art history and different materials and styles will also be given.

Whether you’ve got a DSLR or only ever take photos on your phone, Gulf Photo Plus can help you make the most of your camera, with courses running throughout July and August. It has workshops and lessons on digital photography, food photography, and can teach you how to use Photoshop.
Lotus Educational Institute
Sign up for a course in painting, drawing, photography, charcoal drawing, portrait drawing, or even abstract painting or cubism. For some courses, it asks that you have experience, but for others, you don’t even have to know what a paintbrush is (although that might help).

Soul Art Center
The creative process has a lot more to offer than just a visually intriguing end result. At this creative studio, the Transformative Spontaneous Painting session approaches art from a therapeutic perspective. Alternatively, the Art and Soul session combines meditation, music, play and visual art, while further classes include sessions on creating vision boards for the future.

The gallery is running a mold-making workshop on two consecutive Saturdays from August 6. Anjali Srinivasan will teach the basics of mold-making for sculpture, in materials including clay, wax and plaster.
