The best Dubai beach art by Nathaniel Alapide

Time Out has information and pictures of the best Dubai beach art by Nathaniel Alapide, the sand artist who works at Jumeirah Beach Hotel

If you like art in all its shapes and forms, Nathaniel Alapide’s work will blow your mind.

Using nothing but a garden rake, the Filipino sand artist carves out amazing images and replicas of famous paintings on every beach he lays his eyes on.

Fortunately for art lovers in Dubai, Alapide is based in the city, after Jumeirah Beach Hotel’s managers came across his work and offered him a job as a full-time sand artist.

That means the resort’s beach is now his primary ‘canvas’.

This Eid break, Alapide wowed guests with a fantastic sand ‘mural’ which wished everyone “Eid Mubarak”.

But the creative has many other works to be proud of.

As the Instagram posts below show, he’s been able to recreate iconic paintings such as Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Van Gogh’s The Starry Night and Pablo Picasso’s Guernica.

Alapide also works on his own designs. His art includes calligraphy, cartoons, portraits and much more.

If you want to head down to Jumeirah Beach Hotel to check out his work, the weekly beach pass rate costs Dhs300 and the weekend one is Dhs400 (with Dhs150 food allowance), Dhs100 on Friday and Saturday from October 1 to April 30.

The beach pass also includes access to the pool and Wild Wadi Park.  Call 044068800 to find out if Alapide will be 'sand painting' on the day you visit.
