Burj Khalifa world record LED projection - pictures

Time Out Dubai has pictures of Burj Khalifa world record LED projection in Dubai, which runs until January 9 on the side of the world's tallest building

You may have noticed something a little different about the Burj Khalifa recently; a stunning mass of colour illuminating the facade?

Well if not, you have until January 9, and we strongly urge you to do just that, because you'll witness a Guinness World Record view.

That's right, running over the festive period an LED installation is creating one of the world's brightest visual spectacles.

Using a staggering 70,000 LED bulbs, 100,000 brackets and linked seamlessly with 55,000 metres of cable over 32,467 square metres the record-breaking sight has set social media ablaze.

Featuring designs of the UAE National Flag, Arabic motifs, flags from around the Gulf region and other dazzling effects, anticipation is high for the role the latest public art display will have in the New Year's Eve celebrations at the world's tallest building.

Already primed for yet another incredible fireworks show, the Burj Khalifa is set to raise the bar even higher as we accelerate into 2016 during the Downtown Dubai New Year's Eve Gala.

As well as December 31, visitors will be able to see the projection at regular intervals from 6:45pm to 11:45pm, complementing the iconic Dubai Fountains.
