Dubai Opera timelapse video released - watch it here

Time Out Dubai brings the latest awesome video of Dubai megaprojects. Here, check out the Dubai Opera timelapse video

Dubai will soon be home to one of the most advanced live music and event venues in the world, a dedicated hub for everything from gala dinners to international theatrical shows. And, of course, opera.

And now, as Dubai Opera ticks down towards official opening after the summer, the team behind the development are teasing us with information about what to expect.

Last week, they revealed... well, not much that we didn't know already, but the renderings of how the whole district in Downtown Dubai will look certainly got the juices flowing.

And now they've topped that up with a timelapse showing the build. In fact, they've released two, the first a snappier version of the second, but both show the formidable amount of work that has gone into turning a wasted scrap of land in the shadow of Burj Khalifa into something that will be the envy of the world.

So what else do we know?

Well the main venue will be 'a 2,000-seat multi-format venue for opera, theatre, concerts, art exhibitions, orchestra, film, sports events, and seasonal programmes’, and is headed by Jasper Hope, who was the Chief Operating Officer of Royal Albert Hall in London.

As well as bringing in the cream of the crop of international talent, Dubai Opera will promote local talent.

The development, known as Opera District will feature luxury hotels, as well as plush residential and serviced apartments, and art galleries.
