Graffiti lovers in the city have a brand-new work of art to hunt down and admire.
Dubai-based street artist Fathima Mohiuddin (aka Fats) has just completed an amazing ten by ten metre mural in the entrance of Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach in JBR.
In her signature style – bold, angular and abstract – Fats combines traditional and modern elements of her city.
Look closely and you might start to recognize some of Dubai’s top landmarks: Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Emirates Towers and even Deira’s clock tower.
And there’s of course that iconic huge half crescent moon that we so often get over here in Dubai and the most stylish camel in the UAE.
“(It’s) an homage to Dubai, the place where I was born and raised,” the Indian-Canadian artist says.
The mural also represents the first collaboration between Red Bull Curates and a locally based artist.
The energy drink giants have been proving that they do much more than just extreme sports sponsorship, their Red Bull Curates Cooler Project campaign reaching everywhere from New York to Kazakhstan.
If you’re new to street art but want to get into it, know that JBR is a hotspot for ultra-real 3D graffiti work with a distinctive animal theme, including giraffes, falcons, an aquarium and many other works of art dotted across The Walk.
