Like it or not, hipsterism can sometimes be very cool.
Yes, we know that there are elements to this subculture that can seem slightly self-righteous, but if you like to be surprised by stuff that stands out from the mainstream, then you just have to go with it!
On that note, let us tell you about The Lighthouse, Dubai’s newest concept store, which opens today January 8 2017.
Located in Dubai Design District (no surprise there!), it will feature a curated selection of design and food. In other words, you’ll be able to buy cool and quirky handcrafted stuff and feast on yummy yet healthy bites.
We say healthy, but there will be a dedicated chocolate stand by hipster chocolatiers Mast, with custom made treats, some made of weird ingredients like sea salt, sheep and goats milk.
Izu Ani, the highly-esteemed chef behind Parisian-style café La Serre, is now the man calling the shots at The Lighthouse’s kitchen, so you can look forward to some scrumptious choux pastries.
Judging by the pictures on The Lighthouse’s Instagram page, the venue is developing into a cool minimalistic space where there’ll be a bit of everything happening, from debates, to exhibitions and a gift area selling arty goods like Scandinavian-style furniture and handcrafted phone chargers.
It’s aiming to become a gathering point for Dubai and the Middle East’s creative community. It’s certainly chosen the right spot in town!
If you want to check it out today it’s at building 6 at d3, open from 8am to 11pm (closed on Saturdays).
