Comic Con street artist Leyla Ghobadi coming to Dubai

Her artwork has been displayed alongside the likes of Banksy

1/5

Noticed a few comic-inspired art pieces around Groove on the Grass recently? You were probably admiring the work of Leyla Ghobadi.

The street and mixed media artist will bring her unique street art exhibition to Moe’s on the 5th from Friday April 20 to Friday May 4.

Fresh from her sell-out show at this year’s Middle East Film and Comic Con, expect to see iconic characters such as The Joker and Wonder Woman along with other key figures incorporated into each piece.

Having previously exhibited in Miami, London and Ibiza, her work has been showcased at various events and hotels, while the Montreal-born street artist has also had her artwork displayed alongside the best street artists in the world, including Banksy.

Growing up drawing everything she could, from anime characters to heroes, today she uses myriad techniques to showcase influential figures from her childhood.

Ghobadi isn’t only praised for her art – she is also known for her skills as a DJ, taking her music from Tulum to Ibiza.

If you’re a fan of graffiti-style paintings that make your favourite comic characters look grittier (but infinitely cooler) than ever before, this is an exhibition you need to head to.

Before you go, check out all you need to know about Moe’s on the 5th to get a sneak peek on what to order.

Free. Fri Apr 20-Fri May 4. Moe’s on the 5th open daily 6pm-3am. Sheraton Grand Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 333 3055).
